New Printable Paper Camera!

“TOUGHIE” the new papercraft template paper camera (inspired by LOMO’s Diana and Konica Minolta cameras) is the latest design added to Mel Stringer's series of adorable printable 3D paper cameras.  She called them "TOUGHIE" because of how sturdy they look (while still being constructed of only paper/cardboard!).  Available in four different colours: rosebud pink, and floral pink /blue, graph paper white and denim blue. Mystery Revealed

A couple of you guessed correctly. I've moved my bedroom downstairs into the basement.   It's not because I've missed having a separate bedroom or that it's been weird having a bed in the living room but rather that I've missed having a home office.   With the bed down here I've freed up that whole space upstairs. This space wasn't used to its full potential anyway and I already knew I'd sleep well down here since I tried it for ten nights when mom visited over the holidays. And no it's not damp. Trading it in for paradise

A land of the alternative, a land of the wealthy, a land of the stylish, a land of community, a land of contradictions. An almost mythical land. The green rolling hills that climb above the white beaches of Australia's most easterly point. Bryon Bay and its hinterland. Paradise. And where better to drink in the nectar of the slightly alternative style gods than bryon view farm home of strangetrader owners Robert Schwamberg and Andrea Duff. Paradise in a weatherboard cottage available to rent. Read more...

Dispatches from Sweden

Contributor post by Elisabeth Dunker of Fine Little Day I'm privileged enough to be able to visit peoples homes sometimes for work. I do love when the person(s) who lives there has a personality showing in their home. The best days are when they let me into their everyday life and show me around unconditionally. A couple of days ago I had a moment like that. It was a visit to the lady who lives here. I was doing a photo shoot for a magazine and was supposed to take a portrait. Read more...

Craft and the New Economy Symposium

Craft and the New Economy is a one day symposium presented by the Ontario Crafts Council in partnership with OCADU’s Material Art & Design Program, Sheridan College Crafts and Design Program and Haliburton School of the Arts: Fleming College that will create a conversation around the different contexts of making a living, and the intersections between craft, technology, DIY, design, and architecture. New York City: To Greenmarket We Go…

All photographs and words in this guest post by Ashley & Aron Bruhn of Hither Thither One of the culinary scenes you will find in full force here in New York–and, thankfully, around the country–is the farm-to-table movement. At the heart of this is the city’s Greenmarket network, the largest outdoor urban farmer’s market network in the country. We are particularly partial to our local Greenmarket, which also happens to be the city’s flagship market, in Union Square. Read more...

Jose Villa + Sugar & Fluff = The Prettiest Style Shoot Ever!

I'm not one for tradition; I like things shaken and stirred. Plus these days when it comes to romance, you might even call me cynical. Yet every once in a while something will set even my jaded, modernist heart aflutter. If anyone consistently has that ability, it's photographer Jose Villa and the insanely gifted styling team at Sugar & Fluff--and indeed they've got me twitterpated with their latest shoot.  I don't know what captivates me most here. New Shop Alert: Mother

Yesterday whilst browsing through Etsy I came upon the shop Mother.  I favourited it instantly and kept in the back of my mind to investigate.  I thought the model looked familiar and today I see talented Yokoo has announced her new shop Mother.  Eep!  It's full of handmade goodness folks and reminiscent of days gone by –think Sound of Music with a mix of true feminism. Before & After: Simple Shelves Become a Stylish Cabinet

Most of us have a set of shelves that are decidedly more functional than they are fashionable. This shabby set survived the move into our new house and managed to look even shabbier sitting on our brand new tile floor and adjacent to a freshly painted wall. It only took me three years but it finally got a makeover more befitting its new station in life. More Read More... Read more...

Rugged Classic Cool: Campaign Furniture

Julius Caesar and his army carted it around on their expeditions. The British Army redesigned it and used it prolifically in the 18th and 19th centuries. Napoleon, too, found it useful. Despite its adventurous and violent history, campaign furniture is now more likely to be found in classically cool homes. More Read More... Read more...

Artists' Hangout in Arles

On my recent trip to Provence, I visited the Hôtel Nord Pinus in Arles' Place du Forum, which resonates with the ghosts of Hemingway and other noteworthy artistic figures including Picasso and Cocteau. As the gateway to the wild Camargue, the city of Arles is famous for its bullfighting, cowboys, and its artistic and exotic personalities. Read more...

Caribbean-Inspired Planters from IKEA

Nina Broberg/IKEA Livet Hemma Just came across these painted wicker planter baskets at IKEA today called SALMBÄR. Plastic inside the pot makes the plant pot waterproof to hold plants but I think I'm going to pick some up to hold magazines, etc. Check them out here.  Copyright 2005 - 2012 Poppytalk. Dee's Dual Craft & Playroom My Room

Name: Dee and children (7 & 5)Location: Tulsa, OKI needed to create a space in which a playroom for the kiddies and a craft room for me could co-exist!
